ISA/IEC 62443 series

The ISA/IEC 62443 series is a series of standards that promotes inclusiveness of all parties involved within an organisation.

The standard is developed by ISA (International Society of Automation) and adopted by IEC under the same name.

There are specific sections for:

• Asset owner (62443-2-1)
• Service Provider (62443-2-4)
• Vendor (62443-4-1 and 62443-4-2)
• The system (62443-3-3)

The ISA/IEC Series is more focussed on the OT (Operational Technology) where Safety and Continuity are more important than Confidentiality.
This standard is intended to improve security for equipment and processes that can have an impact on the real world.

IEC/ISA 62443 is an extensive standard and it is very well suited to work in tandem with other standards like ISO 27001/2
